Good Hotel London: Sustainability at its Coolest
This re-designed floating platform in the Royal Victoria Docks is the perfect hotel for business and weekend trips to London. Good Hotel London is truly pushing the concept of sustainable tourism forward. The hotel’s purpose is to extensively train long-term unemployed locals (40% of staff) in various jobs in the hospitality industry. Bedrooms are cozy, some with beautiful waterfront views. The rooftop terrace makes you forget you’re in one of the world’s most hectic cities. Good Hotel London truly represents premium hospitality with a cause.
Why we love it: Needless to say, we love the unique waterfront location. But even more than that, we love that this former detention center for illegal immigrants was recycled and designed into a hotel with an admirable purpose.
Other sustainability features: The hotel’s belief is that one day all business should be social business. Based on this notion, Good Hotel London integrates many sustainable elements such as: Providing guests with Fairtrade shampoo and toiletry products, using local suppliers for both food and beverage ingredients, and donating 5 GBP per night to their NGO partner Niños de Guatemala for every direct booking made.
Activities: Hop on the Emirates Air Line (literally right next to the hotel) and discover London’s most up and coming area from above. Enjoy a cocktail or pint during sunset at Bōkan in Canary Wharf. Speed to London City Airport in just 15 minutes for your flight home.
Room price: At approximately 90 EUR per night, The Good Hotel is definitely the best value for money in London town!
